About Us
Basis is made up of people who, as adults, worked in associations, national corporations, advocacy organizations, educational institutions, distributorships, and professional service firms—all prior to entering the branding profession. Unlike those that have only marketing or design backgrounds to offer, Basis has this distinct added value. In other words, Basis examines branding not only as experts with years of industry experience, but also through the eyes of someone that worked with branding from the customer perspective.
Our work ranges from consultation with individuals and groups, conducting brand workshops, addressing groups about how branding can help them, and creating brands for entire organizations, to creating looks for targeted campaigns that aim to increase sales, awareness, activism, and other goals. As our schedule permits, we supplement existing branding efforts through specific communication projects either online or in print.
Basis specializes in communication campaigns that confront economic and financial issues in society. Our team has worked with over 90 nonprofits, often alongside the best nation-wide experts in financial awareness. Basis’ work has influenced groups such as foster children, working poor families, earned income tax credit recipients, single moms and dads, and homeless families, among others.
Basis works primarily with nonprofits, but we are finding that more and more corporations are attracted to the practical, yet nimble communication approaches from the nonprofit arena, and request Basis’ perspective in their brand initiatives too. The leaders at Basis have been with the company for more than a decade, and have guided it through slow and careful growth to the consultancy it is today. Learn more about Catherine Shaw, Basis President, and Matt Langley, Director of Branding.
