Samaritan Ministry of Greater Washington
Situation
Summary background of the organization
Samaritan Ministry of Greater Washington works with homeless people and others in need and promotes awareness of the problems facing the homeless. They foster partnerships, and work to break down barriers imposed by poverty.
Obstacles
The communication challenges faced
Reaching important audiences efficiently with a targeted method challenged for Samaritan Ministry. Their online presence was outdated and the information architecture of the site reflected their difficulties in communicating with these audiences.
Solution
The steps and solution taken by the CreateAThon team
Beginning with the web site, the designers updated and refreshed its look, as well as ways within the site to reach audiences in a more efficient way, as well as to think ahead towards keeping the content current with regular updates. The team worked with Samaritan Ministry to create new information architecture (site organization) using their existing content. They then redesigned an internal page template allowing for this. The home page was redesigned to have a fresh design approach with audience engagement in mind, bringing focus to the content that the client felt was pertinent to their constituency.
